Silybum marianum, known as thistle, is a medicinal plant belonging to the Asteraceae (Compositae) family. It grows naturally in the Thrace and Western and Southern Anatolia regions in Turkey. Thistle plant is used in food, livestock and cosmetics fields with its antifibrotic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory features.
